Hyderabad: A city-based startup is rewriting the narrative of education and success beyond the degree and college one studies in. Student Tribe, founded by Sri Charan Lakkaraju, is not just a platform or an app but is a movement that empowers futures through networking.
With a resolute focus on Tier 2 and Tier 3 colleges, Charan's idea is simple yet revolutionary: Talent and skill triumph over the prestige of one's alma mater. In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle, he remarked, "We aim to showcase that every student possesses unique abilities, regardless of the college they come from."
Student Tribe (formerly StuMagz), dubbed ‘students' LinkedIn,’ has facilitated over Rs 12 lakh in income generation within the last year through marketing. "We distributed Rs 3 lakh in scholarships and 30 students were engaged in gig jobs, collectively earning Rs 9 lakh."
Speaking about intellectual capital, he said that over 500 students were being upskilled. "We don't charge a single rupee. The app and membership are free. Through our Creer Launchpad initiative, 55+ students were placed in full-time roles and more than 2,000 others grabbed several other opportunities through part time jobs, internships, etc.," Charan said.
The start-up's social capital is showcased through events and gatherings. "Tribe Meetups, Career Quest, and PROessional STudents events drew thousands of students from across the state where people could meet up, exchange ideas, contacts, knowledge and so much more, creating a sense of comm'unity'," Charan said.
With a network of 200 influencers and successful app installations, Student Tribe blends education with entertainment. "We also distributed over 600 movie tickets, engaging students beyond traditional learning," he said.
The success stories of Student Tribe's alumni embody the essence of empowerment, he said sharing that from ‘Baahubali’ fame violinist Sandilya Pisapati to Instagram influencer Puram Deepak, India's female cricketer Gongadi Trisha, content creators Varsha D’Souza, Viraajitha Sharma, NCC cadets, and student entrepreneurs.
With a vast network of 5 lakhs plus students, Student Tribe stands as a formidable force, proving that talent knows no boundaries.
