HYDERABAD: Electricity employees are a divided lot over the proposed strike from April 17 demanding a hike in salaries and implementation of other demands. The Telangana State Power Employees Joint Action Committee (TSPEJAC), which comprises 24 unions, served a strike notice, which is being opposed by the Telangana Electricity Employees Joint Action Committee (TSEEJAC).
Meanwhile, the management of TS Genco and TS Transco appealed to employees to withdraw the strike notice.
It may be recalled that the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) is pending from April 1, 2022. Those appointed between 1999 and 2004 are demanding that they be included in the GPF facility from EPF. Artisans in power utilities are also demanding solutions to their long pending service problems. The TSPEJAC has conducted preparatory meetings in undivided Nalgonda and Medak districts and has planned similar meetings in undivided Mahbubnagar on April 6, Khammam April 7, Adilabad April 10, Nizamabad April 11, Karimnagar the next day, Warangal April 13 and Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy districts on April 15.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, TSPEJAC chairman G. Saibabu said that electricity employees decided to go on strike to achieve their demands. “We will give a written reply to the management explaining why the employees are expecting 30 per cent fitment,” he said.
The TSEEJAC represents eight unions. JAC convener Shivaji said that they seek an amicable settlement with regard to the fitment issue. In view of summer and examinations, they are against the strike, he said.
