HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao, who made vain attempts to install a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Punjagutta circle, is to seek the state government nod to allow him to install a statue at Madina Circle in Old City. He regretted that the government failed to respond to his plea to have the statue in Punjagutta while the police shifted it from the place.
"When the government did not oblige, I approached the court, which gave orders in my favour. I took the matter to the municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao and they allowed me to install at Punjagutta before Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender created a ruckus," Rao said.
In order to avoid any further disputes, he has decided to install an Ambedkar statue at Madina circle towards which he will write to Rama Rao, the Congress leader said.
