Chandrababu criticised for meeting TD leaders in jail, and not consoling farmers

KAKINADA: BC Welfare Minister Venugopala Krishna lashed out at Telugu Desam Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday, saying the former chief minister came to the Godavari districts to meet jailed TD leaders but avoided meeting the paddy farmers who are in distress due to the rain and floods.

“He comes here to meet Adireddy Appa Rao and Adireddy Srinivasa Rao who are in central jail in connection with the chit fund fraud,” the minister told the media at Rajamahendravaram.

He said that from day 1, he had been in touch with the farmers and providing all possible relief to them in saving the crop and in selling it. “Therefore, there is no truth in the accusations made by Chandrababu that the YSRC leaders are not bothered about the plight of the farmers. The former chief minister is well-known for playing dirty politics, he alleged.

He said chief minister Jagan Reddy has taken all steps to help the farmers. “We are here to address the problems of farmers. The steps taken by the government helped in the farmers having a yield of over 50 bags per acre on average,” he said.
