APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University bid to guide' freshers
Thiruvananthapuram: With the beginning of the new academic year, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University has come out with a handbook for first semester students aimed at giving fresh students admitted to the B Tech course a feel of the different aspects of the course. University Pro Vice Chancellor M. Abdul Rahman told Deccan Chronicle that principals of the engineering colleges affiliated to the university have been asked to download the handbook from the website and distribute it to students to give an overview of the course.
The handbook provides information on various aspects of the university like Academic Auditing to monitor teaching-learning process, Option for meritorious students to acquire B.TECH (honours), facility for break of study to initiate start-up venture or product developm ent, provision for remedial, bridge course, language Lab and micro projects etc. in the curriculum.
The handbook also has details on the academic calendar for curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and vacation for doing internship, Summer courses and contact courses for failed students to earn minimum credits without losing an academic year, supplementary examinations before the commencement of the odd semester, facility for open book examination in certain courses are other issues discussed in the handbook. The handbook also provides details of new subjects introduced like Design Engineering, Sustainable Engineering, Life Skills, Business Economics, and Design Project for all branches.
