ACB traps 3 officials taking bribes in two cases
VIJAYAWADA: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped three officials for collecting bribes in two separate cases in Annamayya and Palnadu districts on Saturday.
In Annamayya district, G. Prabhanjan Reddy of Yerramamenipalem village in T. Sundupalli Mandal approached Sundupalli tahsildar Gadapala Ravi and revenue inspector Kiran for mutation of his farmland. The duo demanded ₹80,000 for the same.
Based on a complaint by Prabhanjan Reddy, ACB authorities laid a trap and caught the revenue inspector while accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 based on the direction of the tahsildar. Both the inspector and tahsildar have been taken into custody.
In Palnadu district, G. Sankar from Ganapavaram village of Nadendla mandal approached Sathyavole secretariat village revenue officer (VRO) P. Venkateswaralu for mutation of farmland belonging to his grandfather and issue of a pattadar passbook. The VRO demanded a bribe of ₹25,000 for the same and asked him to pay ₹10,000 in advance.
Based on Sankar’s complaint, ACB authorities caught the VRO red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 and took him into custody.
