Cops book PT teacher for abusing Class 8 girl in Attapur

HYDERABAD: The PT instructor of a private school on Saturday was charged for misbehaving and harassing girl students at Attapur. Police registered a case under POCSO Act against the accused.

The accused, Vishnu, was not only harassing girls in the school but also making phone calls, parents of one victim complained to the Attapur police. “My daughter told me that he used to peep into the washrooms while my daughter and other students were using them,” her mother said.

Angry parents, their relatives, and some locals reached the school, damaged furniture, and assaulted Vishnu and the school principal, police said. They stripped Vishnu. “He used to touch my daughter’s chest and referred to her and other girls as ‘jaanu.’ I was shocked to learn this from my daughter,” the mother of another victim said.

“When my husband and I went to report the matter to the principal, we were shocked to learn from other parents whose daughters were also subject to sexual harassment by Vishnu,” a parent, who also lodged a complaint, said.

Vishnu managed to escape by jumping the boundary wall and switching off his mobile. His house was locked. Local leaders from NSUI, ABVP, and other social workers staged a protest at the school.

“We have registered a case under POCSO Act against him,” Attapur inspector Puli Yadgiri said. Police have reportedly taken Vishnu into custody and seized his mobile phone to collect technical evidence.
