HYDERABAD: A 43-year-old man attempted suicide at the residence of TRS corporator Dodla Venkatesh Goud of the Allwyn Colony ward (Division 124), alleging that the politician was not returning a sum of `2.5 lakh to him. The Jagadgirigutta police said the man, Sevarthi Narasimha Chary, suffered burns on his face but his condition is now stable.
Police said Chary, a carpenter from Bachupally, had gone to corporator Venkatesh Goud’s house at Silpa Brindavan in Shamshiguda on Monday night to confront him about the money, said Jagadgirigutta station house officer P. Saidulu.
“Chary said that Venkatesh Goud owed him `1 lakh and his son Dodla Ramu Goud another `1.50 lakh. Vexed by the endless wait for them to return the money, Chary went to their house at about 8.30 pm and attempted to kill himself after a confrontation. Locals immediately rescued Chary and took him to a nearby hospital, where his condition is said to be normal,” Saidulu said.
Following a complaint from Chary, the police booked a case of cheating and abetment to suicide against Venkatesh Goud started a probe.
This is the third case of a politician being involved in criminal cases in the city in the last three days.

The owner of the flat lodged a complaint stating that Naidu and Singh had forged his signatures and prepared property documents using his fake finger- prints.
The same day, BJP corporator from Gaddiannaram, Baddam Prem Maheshwar Reddy, was arrested along with nine others by the Saroornagar police for plotting the kidnap of a former rowdy sheeter from Gaddiannaram. In the event, they kidnapped his son and assaulted him.
