Osmania Jr docs to strike over unpaid stipends
HYDERABAD: Junior doctors at Osmania General Hospital said they would boycott all services except emergency duties from September 12 as they have not been paid their stipends for seven months.
In a letter, the Osmania Telangana Junior Doctors Association (OJUDA) told the Principal of Osmania Medical College on Tuesday that first-year postgraduate students had been working since February 1 without getting the payment.
“OJUDA has made several representations regarding this but the issues are not resolved as promised. It’s inhumane to ask PGs to work for seven months without being paid. Hence, as a last resort, Osmania JUDA is forced to call for a strike,” the letter stated.
If the stipends were not paid by September 11, members of Osmania JUDA will begin their strike from September 12, they said.
