Low pressure forms in Bay of Bengal , Orange alert for AP towns

Visakhapatnam: A low pressure area was formed over north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north AP coasts on Tuesday.

The system is an associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height. It is likely to move nearly westwards across south Odisha and south Chhattisgarh during the next 24 hours, the weather office said.

“The western end of Monsoon trough runs along the foothills of the Himalayas and its eastern end now passes through Najibabad, Lucknow, Satna, Raipur and thence south-eastwards to the centre of low pressure area over north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north AP coasts.”

“A trough from the cyclonic circulation associated with the low pressure area to Telangana across north coastal AP between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked.”

Under the influence of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, the cyclone warning centre at Visakhapatnam forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in AP for three days from Tuesday.
