Naidu pulls up YSRC government over Handri Neeva

ANANTAPUR: Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has come down heavily on YSRC government for its lapses in completing the Handri Neeva project and connecting reservoirs and canals during the past four years.

“If TD had been voted to power in 2019, all pending works of Handri Neeva would have been completed by 2020 and irrigation of dry lands in the region would have started," he observed.

As part of three-day visit to Anantapur district, Chandrababu Naidu arrived at the Jindal Airport in Toranagal of Ballary district of Karnataka by a special aircraft. He unveiled a statue of TD founder N.T. Rama Rao at the Kamma Bhavan in Ballary.

Later, he reached Rayadurg constituency by road and interacted with groundnut farmers at Pallepalli village. Groundnut farmers in Anantapur district have incurred huge losses during present season. Speaking on the occasion, the TDP chief blamed the state government for failing to uplift farmers and withdrawing welfare and subsidised schemes implemented by the TD regime for welfare of farmers.

Referring to pending BT project canal works in Rayadurg area, Naidu pointed out that the TD government had sanctioned ₹970 crore for the project. He said not even a metre’s work has been undertaken during the past four years.
