Purandeswari slams AP government for industrial power cut
Vijayawada: BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari has slammed the state government for imposing a power cut of 30 per cent on curbs on industries in Andhra Pradesh and then withdrawing the proposal.
Expressing concerns that this power cut could become a reality at a press conference here on Tuesday, she pointed out that power cuts are already being imposed in rural areas without making any official announcement. Because of this, farmers of upland areas are already concerned about not being able to water their crops.
Purandeswari found fault with the state government for failing to use solar and wind power to overcome power shortage. She further asked the state government why it is unable to keep adequate stocks of coal for thermal power generation.
The BJP state president maintained that AP requires nearly 260 million units of power per day. The state government has also announced that power consumption has gone up by eight per cent. She wondered why the government is unable to come up with an action plan in advance for overcoming the power shortage.
Purandeswari demanded that the state government release a white paper on power demand and supply and stocks of coal in the state.
She expressed concern over absence of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the state at a time when he is supposed to review the power demand and supply position in the state and decide whether there will be curbs on power consumption by industries.
