Telangana Rains: Harish Rao taps emergency button

As per the health department, there has been a significant increase in the institutional deliveries in government hospitals

Hyderabad: Health minister Harish Rao Tuesday called on the health department staff to provide uninterrupted emergency medical services in the light of the ongoing heavy rains.

To prepare the department for the expected increase in seasonal diseases, Harish Rao directed district medical officers to collaborate with panchayat raj and municipal authorities to implement preventive measures and to undertake continuous monitoring.

Speaking at a teleconference, Harish Rao said that additional out-patient services and specialised wards should be established where necessary to ensure prompt and efficient healthcare delivery.

Further, he acknowledged the progress of institutional deliveries in the government hospitals in the state which stood at 76 per cent in August.

As per the health department, there has been a significant increase in the institutional deliveries in government hospitals, which have more than doubled since 2014, when it was 30 per cent.
