Harish Rao launches CM\'s breakfast programme
Hyderabad: Stating that the Chief Minister's breakfast scheme would help to reduce dropouts in primary schools, Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Friday said that the government spends Rs 400 crore per annum for providing breakfast for government school students and 20 lakh students would be benefited from it.
Finance Minister Harish Rao and Education Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy launched the Chief Minister's breakfast programme at Raviryala ZP High school of Maheshwaram mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Friday.
Extending gratitude to the Chief Minister on behalf of 20 lakh students for introducing the breakfast programme, Harish Rao said that the Chief Minister initiated the breakfast programme by thinking from a humanitarian perspective.The government provides nutritious food to children in government schools.
"Telangana is the only state in the country that provides breakfast to students. The Chief Minister's breakfast scheme will bring a radical change in the education system. As the government introduced the scheme, the dropout rate in government schools will come down gradually," Harish Rao hoped.
The Minister further stated that the government implements Kalyana Laxmi scheme which helps to prevent child marriages in Telangana. The government provides financial assistance under the Kalyana Laxmi scheme. KCR kit is not only a scheme of giving 16 items, but KCR kit is making 100 percent institutional deliveries. Similarly, Mission Bhagiratha is providing water to every household with pure drinking water.
In giving priority to the education sector, the government established 1000 residential schools and provided the best education to students.
