Naidu wants TD to fight peacefully in people's interests: Lokesh
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam national general secretary N. Lokesh said that their party president and his father Chandrababu Naidu has advised TD to fight peacefully in people’s interests.
Lokesh, accompanied by his mother Bhuvaneswari and spouse Brahmani, met on Friday Chandrababu, who is in judicial remand at the Central Prison in Rajahmundry for his alleged involvement in the AP Skill Development Corporation scam.
Speaking to media persons later, Lokesh alleged that when their party chief had been fighting for completion of Polavaram irrigation project, proper sharing of Krishna waters, setting up industrial units for providing employment to youth and several other issues, YSR Congress government had wantonly implicated him in false cases
“The government managed systems and sent him to judicial remand,” the party national general secretary charged. He said the falsity could be seen from the fact that while arresting Naidu, the state government had claimed that the quantum of corruption in the skill scam was Rs 3,000 crore. Subsequently, the figures presented in the court had been brought down to Rs 370 crore and then to Rs 27 crore, Lokesh pointed out.
“My father has been implicated in false cases. He has been under judicial remand in the last 28 days. We believe that justice may be delayed, but justice cannot be denied to us,” he remarked.
The TD leader underlined that Naidu never tolerated corruption. “Had I committed a mistake, my father would have sent me to jail,” he stated.
Lokesh expressed concern over safety of Naidu in the jail, as there are Naxalites and ganja smugglers lodged in the jail. He said he has come to know about an SP writing a letter to jail authorities, raising concerns over safety of Naidu in the jail.
The party leader said both TD and Jana Sena will come up with an action plan soon to work together for the ensuing polls in the state. He sounded confident about resuming his padayatra and other party-related activities soon.
Earlier, Telugu Desam leadership called upon people to extend their support by taking part novel protests. Accordingly, Brahmani asked people to support Naidu by switching off their lights in their houses and light diyas, candles, mobile phone lights and torch lights from 7 p.m. to 7.05 p.m. on Saturday.
In her tweet on Friday, Brahmani asked people to join the “Kaanthitho Kranthi’ protest to exhibit their support for Naidu, who is in jail. She appealed to five crore people of the state to come to their front yards, balconies and streets, showing glowing diyas, candles, mobile phone lights and torch lights. Those driving can blink their lights for five minutes. She asked people to video record their protests and post them on social media platforms.
“A revolution has started in Andhra Pradesh to drive out darkness from AP,” Brahmani remarked.
