Construction site blast causes ceiling collapse at residence in vicinity
Hyderabad: A portion of the ceiling of a flat at Alkapoor Township in Manikonda was damaged in a blast that took place at a neighbouring construction site on November 4, with the video going viral on social media platforms as residents raised safety concerns.
In the video, loud sounds are heard and there is a slight tremor, causing residents to quickly flee their residences. Power supply was also cut temporarily.
Anupam Kapoor, a resident of the flat where the incident took place, said: “It was like an earthquake, with falling objects damaging the ceiling and causing extensive cracks in the walls. The situation is concerning. We had been repeatedly raised complaints about the construction but to no avail.”
Another resident, not wishing to be named, said: “We are worried for our safety, fearing that a slab might suddenly collapse, potentially resulting in a fatality. Why have the authorities not responded despite lodging complaints? We sincerely appeal and demand them to take necessary action before the situation goes completely out of control.”
Narsingi police inspector Shiva Kumar said complaints were received and they will investigate the same.
