Heavy Rains Forecast for AP Till Nov 9; Low Pressure in Arabian Sea
Visakhapatnam: Heavy rains are forecast for the north and south coastal AP regions, Rayalaseema and Yanam till Nov 9.
IMD Amaravati said in a report on Sunday: “A low pressure area is likely to form over the east central Arabian Sea around Nov 8.
The cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood now lay over north TN and its neighbourhood and extended upto 5.8km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move west-north west towards southeast and adjoining the east central Arabian Sea during the next two days.”
Saturday’s trough of low in easterlies from north interior Karnataka to the cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood extending upto 1.5km above mean sea level has become less marked.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Rayalaseema. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely in isolated places over north coastal, south coastal AP, Rayalaseema and Yanam till Nov 9.
During the last 24 hours, ending 8.30am on Sunday, Kurnool received the highest rainfall of 11.2cm followed by Palamaner 5cm, Valluru 3.3cm, Seetharamapuram 2.4cm and Madanapalli 2.2cm.
