Kakinada: Home minister Taneti Vanitha has said the rule of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is a “golden period’’ in the history of Andhra Pradesh. “Historians will, in future, divide history into two periods -- Before Jagan and After Jagan -- on the lines of BC and AD,” she claimed.
She was speaking at the YSRC Samajika Sadhikarika Yatra at Sarpavaram junction in Kakinada rural constituency represented by the former agriculture minister Kurasala Kannababu, on Monday evening.
Taneti Vanitha, transport minister P Viswaroop, deputy chief minister Budi Mutyala Naidu, BC welfare minister SV Gopalakrishna, former ministers Anil Yadav, Mopidevi Venkataramana (Rajya Sabha member), Kakinada Lok Sabha member Vanga Githa and others were present.
As thousands of people turned up for the meeting, all routes to Kakinada were jammed for hours. The people raised slogans in favour of the YSRC, Jagan Mohan Reddy and the local leaders.
The home minister said Jagan Mohan Reddy is taking care of both development of the state and welfare of the people. Jagan Mohan Reddy is single-handedly facing opposition parties and the elections and defeating all his rivals hands down, she said.
Minister Viswaroop said Jagan Mohan Reddy championed the cause of social justice. He gave five deputy chief minister posts to various castes and gave a new definition to social justice, he noted.
He said the Telugu Desam and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu failed to fulfill his 6500 poll promises when the TD was in power.
Minister Venugopalakrishna said, “Chandrababu Naidu developed eye problems after seeing the development of the state during Jagan’s rule.” When the yellow media, Jana sena chief Pawan Kalyan and Enadu Group chairman Ramoji Rao are backing Chandrababu Naidu, the BCs, SCs, STs Minorities and the poor are backing Jagan, he averred.
MLA Kannababu said the Rs 800 crore worth welfare schemes have been distributed to more than one lakh beneficiaries in Kakinada rural constituency. “If Jagan gives a promise, he would fulfill it without fail.”
Former minister Anil Yadav said the people of Godavari districts are intelligent and they will never fall in the trap of the cine star Pawan Kalyan. “They will not repose their trust on the actor who supported Chandrababu Naidu.”
Rajya Sabha member Venkata Ramana said Chandrababu Naidu had a history of selling the Rajya Sabha posts to rich aspirants, but Jagan has given such posts to BCs.
Kakinada MP Vanga Githa said no chief minister in AP other than Jagan Mohan Reddy could implement crores worth of welfare schemes and Jagan Mohan Reddy was giving priority to all disadvantaged social groups.
