BJP misusing Parliament to promote its policy of selling VSP: CITU
Visakhapatnam: Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) state general secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao has criticised BJP MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao for raising the issue of losses incurred by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) in the Rajya Sabha, instead of questioning why the Centre has failed to allocate captive iron ore mines, which is the root cause for VSP incurring losses.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday he alleged that the Parliament was being used as a platform by the BJP to promote its policy of selling the Visakhapatnam Steel plant to South Korea's Posco and Jindal companies.
He recalled that the Union Minister had answered another question raised by the MP that the production capacity utilisation of RINL is limited to 68 per cent in 2022-23. CH Narsinga Rao said “The VSP can produce high-quality steel. The main reason for Steel plants’ capacity utilization to fall to 68 percent was the central government’s suspension of some key sections of the RINL from production.
He said that all other steel plants in the country have their mines, and even after 35 years have passed since the production of RINL the Central government has not allotted captive iron ore mines to RINL. CITU state committee appeals to the public not to be fooled by the false propaganda of GVL.
