Collector Asks Officers to Gear Up For AP Assembly, Lok Sabha Polls
Kurnool: District collector G. Srijana on Tuesday directed nodal officers of upcoming elections to appoint additional staff in view of the simultaneous assembly and parliament elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a meeting to review the forthcoming elections at the collectorate, she pointed out that each of the 2,186 polling stations in the district will require a team of 1+5 people. Thus of six employees will be required for every polling station, with an additional 30 per cent buffer.
The collector cautioned against allotting election duties to employees who will be retiring in the next six months, particularly in their working or home constituencies.
Superintendent of Police G. Krishnakanth said an election cell has been established to maintain law and order, especially in factional villages and vulnerable areas, and curb illegal supply of liquor.
He underlined that under the supervision of area DSP CCTV cameras will be installed at strategic locations in key villages to enhance security and surveillance. The SP elaborated on the comprehensive measures being taken to ensure a smooth and fair election process.
Joint collector Narapureddy Maurya, municipal commissioner A. Bhargav Teja, additional SP Sarkar, DRO K. Madhusudan Rao, Adoni sub-collector Abhishek Kumar, Pathikonda RDO Ramalakshmi, nodal officers, EROs and AEROs were among those who participated in the meeting.
