Congress seeks action against Kiran Bedi
Puducherry: Congress legislators seek appropriate action against Lt Governor Kiran Bedi. Congress MLAs led by K. Lakshminarayanan held a meeting here on Friday and petitioned the Union Home Minister seeking appropriate action against Ms Bedi for contravening the rights of the elected government and representatives in the state.
The legislators alleged that the Lt Governor is acting unconstitutionally. “The Lt Governor is bypassing the elected government here and acting arbitrarily on many issues. The LG is acting autocratically without following the procedures. The centre should initiate appropriate action against Ms Bedi.” Said Mr Lakshminarayanan while talking to newspersons after the meeting.
Mr Lakshminarayanan said the party would demand an appropriate action against the Lt Governor. Expressing anguish over the “undemocratic” and 'publicity mongering' conduct of the LG.
“Though the governor is the administrator of a Union Territory, the power rests with the elected government, and the LG should function as per the advice and guidelines of the cabinet as per the Puducherry Union Territory's Act of 1963,” he said.
Mr Lakshminarayanan said AIADMK, AINRC and communist parties are not happy with the attitude of the LG.
