5.90 lakh Praja Palana Applications Submitted Online

Nizamabad: Some 5.90 lakh Praja Palana applications have been submitted online for welfare pensions and ration cards in Nizamabad district and 3.10 lakh applications in Kamareddy district, officials said on Sunday.

Saturday was the last day for applications. Rural and urban local bodies played a key role in receiving the applications from potential beneficiaries. Special counters were set up in municipal divisions, wards and gram panchayats to receive the applications.

District collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu said the cooperation of the elected representatives, officials and other staff made the Praja Palana programme successful in Nizamabad district.

On Saturday, people in large numbers thronged special counters in 530 gram panchayats and 146 municipal wards and divisions. Around 1,39,528 applications were received in Nizamabad municipal corporation, Bodhan, Armoor and Bheemgal municipalities. In rural local bodies, 3,38,280 applications were received from across the district.

District in-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao visited the Praja Palana programme twice, besides MLAs P Sudarshan Reddy, R Bhupathi Reddy and Thota Laxmikanth Rao. Opposition party MLAs also extended their cooperation for the Praja Palana programme.

These applications will now be sorted out for sanction of the schemes. Eligibility of the applicant will be probed by assigned officials through field visits.

Nuclear families applied for new ration cards during the Praja Palana programme.

During the term of the BRS government, the names of dead persons and migrated people had been deleted from the ration cards. But, new ration cards have not been sanctioned for the past 6 years. As a result, such people failed to get the benefits of the welfare schemes and Arogyasri health insurance facility.
