Submit report on varsity mag: V Narayanasamy to CS
Puducherry: Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday said he has asked the chief secretary to go into the recent release of a controversial students magazine in Pondicherry University, which has been banned amid protests by ABVP and BJP that it was “critical” of central government.
“I have asked the Chief Secretary to go into the issue and submit a report. Once the report is available we will consider follow up action,” he told reporters here. On the GST draft bill, the Chief Minister said the state had already asked the Union government to compensate the loss under the GST quarterly and the revised draft bill would be forwarded to all the states after its passage in Parliament which is supposed to be implemented with effect from April 2017.
On the question on statehood status for the Union Territory, Mr Narayanasamy said the government and the Congress party had already urged the Central government to grant special statehood status to Puducherry.
Denying reports about this warnings to government employees that they would be dismissed if come late in the office, the chief minister said he has great concern for government employees and his only intention was to ensure that employees are punctual reaching their work place. “The misleading reports in the media are intended to create a clash between me and the employees,” he said.
On the new education policy, the chief minister said he will study it once again as the minorities are opposing the bill.
