ADILABAD: First-year post-graduate medical student of RIMS, Adilabad, Praveen Rathod, drowned in Kotilingala Vagu near Kumbhejhari village in Adilabad mandal on Sunday when he went there along with his fellow students to celebrate the Friendship Day.
Praveen is a native of Sircilla town. He and other PG students reached the place in the interior area around 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Three of the medicos slipped into the water. Local villagers managed to pull out two of them but Praveen drowned.
Jainad and Adilabad Rural police rushed to the spot and started search operations. It is said the medico’s body is stuck between boulders inside the vagu.
RIMS director Rathod Jai Singh visited the spot.
Villagers say, students of RIMS, Adilabad, regularly visit the place and take photographs and selfies in the scenic surroundings. They said they always warn visitors not to venture deep into the vagu, as it is dangerous.
