YSRC MP says Kurnool station to develop with ₹42.62 crore
KURNOOL: Member of Parliament Dr. S. Sanjeev Kumar of YSRC has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for including Kurnool Railway Station under the "Amrit Bharat Station" scheme and allotting ₹42.62 crore for the same.
The Kurnool MP underlined that Kurnool is a crucial junction linking southern states to Hyderabad. He suggested that Railways introduce a daily train service from Kurnool town to Machilipatnam, as the road condition between Kurnool and Vijayawada is very poor.
At a programme organised on the occasion, Dr. Sanjeev urged railway passengers to purchase tickets, maintain cleanliness in and around railway premises, and ensure protection of railway assets while travelling.
City mayor B.Y. Ramaiah said railways are an essential transport for citizens of Kurnool, offering them connectivity to distant destinations. He suggested introduction of new train routes connecting Kurnool to Nandyala, Srisailam, Markapuram, and Mantralayam.
Kurnool MLA M.A. Hafeez Khan, zilla parishad chairman Y. Papireddy, senior railway official Anil Kumar, district officials, and others participated in the programme.
While the MP was addressing the meeting, BJP leaders raised slogans in protest. District BJP general secretary K. Narasimha Varma protested against absence of local leaders at the meeting, who were instrumental in getting the funds under Amrit Bharat Station scheme.
Narasimha Varma said they exited the meeting as it primarily focused on highlighting accomplishments of ruling YSRCP.
