Eapcet-22 qualified students to exercise web options for admission in engg colleges
VIJAYAWADA: Students qualified in AP Eapcet-2022 will be allowed to exercise their web options to select their choice of engineering colleges for admissions through counseling in just two days.
The AP state council of higher education is waiting for confirmation of 35 per cent seats from nine private universities so that nearly 3,000 seats would be added to the existing 1.40 lakh seats. This would benefit the students to secure admissions to pursue engineering courses.
The APSCHE started implementation of the rule of reservation to an extent of 35 per cent seats in private universities for the first time in the last academic year. This means the managements of these universities will fill up seats to the extent of 65 per cent under management and NRI quotas while the remaining 35 per cent seats are to be filled based on merit via reservation.
The authorities are resorting to the same practice for this academic year by including a few more private universities, taking the total number of private universities to comply with the rule of reservation to nine this academic year. This means, there will be a cap on fee prescribed at `70,000 and in case the students get the benefit of fee-reimbursement, it will be implemented to its full extent. No fee is to be paid by the students, similar to those of government and private engineering colleges.
As per the original schedule of counseling for AP Eapcet-2022, the students were asked to exercise their web options from Aug 28 to Sept 2, and after giving a day’s time to change their options if any on Sept 3. The counseling is scheduled to be held subsequently for seat allotment in the engineering colleges.
However, this has been deferred for reasons like declaration of results of intermediate advanced supplementary exams and issue of mark sheets. The authorities are now waiting for confirmation of 35 per cent seats from nine private varsities.
APSCHE chairman Hemachandra Reddy said, “We will be allowing the AP Eapcet-2022 qualified students to exercise their web options in two days as we have been waiting for confirmation of 35 per cent seats from nine private universities. It will add 3,000 more seats. Implementation of the rule of reservation for 35 per cent seats in private universities will help students get fee reimbursement facility to eligible students besides effecting a cap on the fee structure.”
