TD leaders ask DGP to provide adequate security for Lokesh's padayatra
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam leaders appealed to the director general of police, K.V. Rajendranath Reddy, to provide adequate security and safe passage to the Yuvagalam Padayatra taken up by their party national general secretary N. Lokesh, and demanded action against the police officers who behaved in a partisan manner and failed to control the YSR Congress supporters.
A five-member delegation of TD leaders comprising Varla Ramaiah, Nakka Ananda Babu, Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, Parchuri Ashok Babu, and Panchumarthi Anuradha arrived at the office of the DGP here on Wednesday and submitted a representation.
In the representation, they alleged that their party leader had taken up Yuvagalam Padayatra on January 27 from Kuppam Assembly segment and reached West Godavari district. They said that on Tuesday in the Bhimavaram Assembly segment, YSR Congress supporters were allowed freely by the police to provoke and disturb the padayatra by erecting provocative flexis, hurling open challenges, and pelting stones. They alleged that the police, instead of preventing such attacks, started disturbing the TD cadre by picking up some TD activists from the camp at midnight.
