Andhra Pradesh cops strike deal with thieves, held

The Rajasthan ACB caught them red-handed while accepting the bribe and recovered the gold from their possession.

Jaipur: A team of AP police couldn’t control their greed. Instead of arresting an accused in a three-kg gold robbery in Visakhapatnam, for which they had come, the four-member police team headed by an inspector tried to strike a deal to let them off.

The Rajasthan ACB caught them red-handed while accepting the bribe and recovered the gold from their possession.

According to ACB special branch deputy superintendent Jagdish Soni, a person in Visakhapatnam was robbed of the gold. The AP police team came to Jodhpur and arrested Shravan Soni and Hanuman Prajapat alias Ram Niwas three days ago.

Arresting the accused, the AP police team moved around in Jodhpur and asked the accused for Rs 1.5 lakh in lieu of removing their names from the case and not to seize their vehicle. The matter was settled for Rs 1.4 lakh.

The cops forced Soni to withdraw Rs 20,000 from an ATM to pay them as advance. Ramniwas was asked to arrange for the remaining amount but he complained to the ACB.
