APSPDCL Launches Rytu Nestham Mobile App to Support Farmers and Improve Power Supply
Tirupati: The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APSPDCL) has introduced the Rytu Nestham mobile application in a bid to improve the quality of power supply and enhance the services to farmers.
Energy minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy launched the mobile app along with WhatsApp chat services and the redesigned official website of SPDCL, in the presence of deputy chief minister Narayana Swamy in Tirupati on Monday.
Ramachandra Reddy said this new development was part of the state government's efforts to ensure quality and uninterrupted power supply to consumers. “This innovative application would reduce delays in the sanctioning of new connections, a significant win for the agricultural community,” he said.
Highlighting the state government's commitment to serving the needs of farmers, the minister said the YSRC government has sanctioned nearly 1.15 lakh agriculture connections, which had been pending since the previous government's tenure. “To date, the YSRC government has granted a total of 3.70 lakh agriculture service connections, with only 16,000 applications currently pending,” he maintained.
Ramachandra Reddy also emphasized the financial commitment of the state government to farmers. The government, led by Jagan Mohan Reddy has allocated '2,400 crore for providing services to the agricultural sector, a notable increase from '1478 crore spent by the previous TD government for similar initiatives, he claimed.
Santosh Rao, chairman, and managing director of APSPDCL, emphasized the importance of these new mobile applications in increasing accountability and streamlining the process for sanctioning new agriculture service connections.
“The Rythu Nestham application allows farmers who applied for new services to monitor the status of their applications directly from their mobile. Superintendent engineers will be responsible for approving the connections after deputy executive engineers and assistant executive engineers scrutinize the applications,” he explained.
In addition to the Rytu Nestham mobile application, the SPDCL also introduced WhatsApp services, enabling consumers to access services through chat at 91333 31912. Minister Peddireddy praised the SPDCL for leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to introduce chat bot services, allowing consumers to communicate directly with staff and officials of the company to address their concerns promptly.
SPDCL directors V.N. Babu, N.V.S. Subbaraju, K. Siva Prasad and other officials attended the launch event.
