Revanth's home town, constituency gear up to storm Hyd for swearing-in ceremony
Hyderabad: It has been a scene of frenzied celebrations at Chief Minister-in-waiting A. Revanth Reddy’s home town of Kondareddypalli and constituency of Kondangal since Tuesday, when the AICC declared him the next Chief Minister of Telangana, after the party romped to success in the electoral battle.
As during festivals, large groups of women played Bathukamma at Revanth Reddy’s residence, with cracker-bursting renting the air and sweetshops running out at Kondareddypalli.
On Wednesday, Revanth’s brother A. Jagadishwar Reddy distributed sweets to students of a government school as well.
Meanwhile, in Kodangal, every street corner was bursting with pulsating folk songs, as youths danced and raised slogans in support of Revanth Reddy.
Shouting “Jai Congress” and “Jai Revanth anna”, residents embraced one another as they took out bike rallies.
Pictures of Revanth quickly started adorning autorickshaws, while elderly residents were busy speaking to vernacular news channels about Revanth’s childhood and their memories of him.
A large contingent of residents of both Kondareddypalli and Kodangal is expected to take to the LB Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, hiring vans and mini-buses, to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Asked about expectations from Revanth Reddy as the Chief Minister, K. Keshava, a youngster from Nandigama village, said: “We want development of Kodangal constituency, like Gajwel and Sircilla represented by former K. Chandrashekar Rao and K.T. Rama Rao, respectively.”
Parsapur Upa sarpanch S. Mogullaiah said expansion works on a road from Kodangal to Mahbubnagar already started. “Once Revanth anna settles down, he will lay special focus on the constituency development,” he said.
K. Narasimha Reddy, a farmer in Maddur mandal of Kodangal, said more emphasis must be laid on supplying water to meet the irrigation requirements, apart from providing jobs to the unemployed youth.
Recalling his association with Revanth Reddy, K. Lingamaiah, a government primary school headmaster in Kondareddypalli, said, “Revanth Reddy and I studied in the village up to fifth class. Revanth Reddy later continued his studies in Wanaparthy.”
