Rodents bite two students in Warangal hostel
WARANGAL: Dogs and monkeys biting people are now frequently in news. An instance of rodents biting two students of Padmakshi Women’s Hostel on Kakatiya University Bypass Road in Warangal has come to notice.
Rodents bit the hands and legs of two students while they had been sleeping in D Block of the hostel in Kakatiya University during the early hours of Tuesday. Fellow hostel mates shifted them to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Last year, 38-year-old Kadarla Srinivas, a resident of Bheemaram village undergoing treatment for respiratory problems at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Warangal had been severely bitten by rodents in the hospital. Having lost a lot of blood, Srinivas had been shifted to NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Owing to this, there is panic among students over rodents biting students. They accuse authorities of using the hostel as a dump yard, due to which the number of rodents have increased. They create problems not only during the night but also during day time.
The rodents have been nibbling notebooks, bags and clothes. Students have taken the issue to notice of the hostel warden. But the menace continues.
When contacted, university officials said they will probe the incident and take necessary steps to resolve the issue.
