Security lapse: Devotee videographs Ananda Nilayam premises
ANANTAPUR: In a major security lapse, a devotee managed to enter the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple with a camera and captured a video of the Ananda Nilayam premises on Sunday night.
Security lapses at the Tirumala Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple premises occur now and then despite a strict vigil.
The person posted close shots of Ananda Nilayam on social media on Monday, exposing the lapses of the TTD security wing. The devotee reached the prohibited zone along with a camera by crossing all checkpoints.
The devotee went to the temple for a darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy on Sunday night when there was a heavy downpour. There was neither the screening nor the security check of what devotees carried inside the temple.
Hundreds of CC-TV cameras are supposedly functional under the special security wing. Yet, the TTD got to know what happened after the devotee posted his video on social media and many people alerted TTD.
Recently, someone from a private agency conducting the digital land survey in Tirumala took visuals of Ananda Nilayam with a drone camera and posted them on social media. TTD was taken unawares.
Mobile phones are strictly prohibited within the Srivari temple and security personnel are supposed to thoroughly check devotees before they are allowed entry.
TTD chief vigilance officer Narasimha Kishore said legal action would be taken against the youth who captured the video of Ananda Nilayam on Sunday night and posted it on social media.
“On Sunday, Tirumala witnessed heavy downpour coupled with thunder and lightning which resulted in a disruption of power supply for two hours. During that time, a devotee is suspected to have captured the video of Vimana Gopuram with a Pen Camera,” he observed.
