National SC Commission praises performance of AP Power Generation Corporation
VIJAYAWADA: Anju Bala, former MP and member of the National SC Commission has praised the performance of AP Power Generation Corporation (APGenco) in aspects like implementation of reservation and welfare of employees.
Apart from sending a letter of appreciation to the managing director of APGenco, she would also bring this to the notice of President Droupadi Murmu, on behalf of the commission, Anju Bala said.
She held discussions with employees of the SC associations along with the commission officials at the APGenco office here on Friday. She reviewed the implementation of reservations, measures taken by the management for the welfare of employees, the requests received from associations and other issues with APGenco officials.
Anju Bala said the SC associations have stated that the management of APGenco is dealing with them in a considerate manner. Petitions containing only four demands were given and the SC associations appreciated their management’s responses in all other matters concerning them, they said.
APGenco MD K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu said though the daily power demand has increased to 263 million units this summer, like never before, “we were able to provide quality electricity without any cuts.” This, he said, was due to the guidance of special chief secretary Vijayanand, minister Peddireddy Ramachandra and the able support of chief minister Jagan Reddy.
He said AP is at top in investment attraction. At the Global Investment Summit in Visakhapatnam, the state received MoUs of Rs 9 lakh crore in the energy sector. AP Genco is moving ahead according to the plan set by the CM to meet the growing electricity needs of the state, he said.
“We are planning to build pumped storage projects in collaboration with the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC),” he added.
