When gods seek funds: Priest approaches district Collector with gods' idols
Bhopal: Lord Rama along with his wife Sita and sibling Laxmana stand in a queue of mortal beings waiting for their turn to narrate their woes before a district collector. Two pairs of bullocks also attend a public grievance redressal cell of local administration seeking urgent medical help.
They are not narratives of any fiction or the scenes of a stage play. The bizarre scenes were witnessed at the public grievance hearing cells of collectors of Chhatarpur and Khargaon districts in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, leading to almost stampede like situations at the venues.
Causing commotion in the public grievance redressal cell of Chhatarpur district collector Ramesh Bhandari, priests of Chakradhar temple, located in Nawagaon village, dropped at the venue carrying idols of Lord Rama, Sita and Laxmana to express their anguish over undue delay in release of compensation for the shrine lands acquired by the local administration despite the court order.
“We have been running from pillar to post pleading for implementation of the court order to release compensation for temple lands acquired by the district administration”, said one of the priests, Purushottam. Completely taken by the turn of event, the collector enquired with officers about it and assured the priests that the issue would be resolved.
