HYDERABAD: Veteran Congress leader and former MP R. Surender Reddy will be honoured with the Sadbhavana award during the 31st Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra commemoration day celebrations to be observed on October 19 at Charminar.
Surender Reddy is the only surviving member of third Lok Sabha from the Telugu states. The third Lok Sabha ran from April 2, 1962, to March 3, 1967.
G. Niranjan, chairman, Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhvana Yatra Commemoration Committee, said that former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi had started the Sadbhavana Yatra in the twin cities from the historic Charminar on October 19, 1990.
The committee had been observing this day as Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra commemoration day since then. and organising a programme at Charminar every year and honouring an eminent personality.
The panel consisting of B. Kamalakar Rao, ex-MLC, and A. Shyam Mohan, chairman, TPCC Intellectual cell, had selected Surender Reddy for the honour this year.
