Sub-Registrar, MRO and 3 VRO’s held for illegal registration of land
NELLORE: Chittoor police arrested five government employees - a sub-registrar, tahsildar and three village revenue officers - for cooperating with real estate dealers for illegal registration of a land in Chittoor region.
The role played by these erring officials came to light during an investigation by Chittoor I Town police following a complaint by R. Dinesh Kumar of Kattamanchi area in Chittoor town.
Dinesh alleged that 2.70 acres out 5.2 acres of land belonging to his father was registered to Karunakar Reddy and Yamuna by producing fake documents three months back.
Those arrested include J. Sridharagupta, working as sub-registrar, Chittoor, I. Subramanyam, tahsildar, Puttuur, who previously worked in Chittoor mandal, P. Dhanunjaya, VRO Vepanjeri, previously worked in Diguvamasam palli village, Chittoor mandal, M. Siva Narayana, VRO Nandaluru, G.D. Nellore mandal, previously worked in Kattamanchi village, Chittoor mandal and K. Babu, VRO Iruvaram, Chittoor mandal, previously worked as VRO in Chittoor town.
The Chittoor police had apprehended seven persons, including Karunkar Reddy and Yamuna, involved in the same case on September 30, and the officials involved in the case were held on Saturday.
The 7 accused and these officials were also responsible for 8 similar illegal registration of tampering of documents.
Police are on the lookout for some more people, including some document writers, for their role in the illegal registrations, said N. Sudhakar Reddy, DSP of Chittoor.
