Vijayawada to host 3-day AP Poly Tech Fest this month
VIJAYAWADA: Finance and skill development minister Buggana Rajendranath announced that the three-day "Poly Tech Fest – 2022" will be hosted in Vijayawada from November 24 to November 26 to stimulate creativity and innovation within students studying in polytechnic institutes throughout Andhra Pradesh.
Releasing a poster of the fest at the Secretariat here on Tuesday, the minister pointed out that the fest is organised by Department of Technical Education every two years. However, it could not be held in 2020 due to Coronavirus pandemic. But this year, teams from 84 government and 173 private polytechnic colleges in the state will be participating in the state-level Poly Tech Fest – 2022 in Vijayawada.
Technical Education commissioner C. Naga Rani said the state-level fest will be preceded by competitions in all 26 districts of the state. About 800 top students from these competitions will be participating in the state-level Poly Tech Fest – 2022.
For the first time, Naga Rani underlined, cash prizes will be given to top teams at both the district and state levels. Winners and runners-up teams at the district levels will receive ₹25,000 and ₹10,000 each. These teams will compete with each other at the three-day state-level competitions. The winning team will take away ₹1,00,000. Team that emerges second will get ₹50,000 and third ₹25,000.
Cash prizes have been introduced to encourage the technical and intellectual spirit within the teams from various polytechnic colleges that will be guided by their mentors. Officials of technical education and skill development departments will also pitch in to raise the level of competitions among the students.
