Telangana CM Offers Hope to Job Seekers with Disabilities

Hyderabad: For Kummari Satyanarayana, an unemployed physically challenged youth, Friday would be a red letter day. After waiting to meet the Chief Minister for years at Pragathi Bhavan to submit a petition seeking a job, he got his moment when Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy threw open the gates of Mahatma Jyotirao Pule Praja Palana Bhavan, earlier known as Pragathi Bhavan, on Friday.

For Satyanarayana and many others like him, it was like opening the doors to a new future where their problems would be redressed and they could make a living.

Satyanarayana, who had come from Kamareddy district, told Deccan Chronicle: “I applied for jobs, but could not clear the recruitment test. I come from a farmer’s family. I had met MLAs in the past and even came to Pragathi Bhavan several times seeking help, but was not allowed inside.”

Chelahala Nagesh from Banjara Hills said he had handed over his grievance to Revanth Reddy who had assured that he would get assistance. Nagesh was earlier doing some odd jobs and stopped working after he suffered a paralytic stroke.

N. Veeranna, who came from Wanaparthy district, said his wife could meet the CM and tell him of her grievances. “We have also submitted a detailed application to upload our land details on the Dharani portal,” he said.

Wadapally Ramesh from Hayathnagar and his wife Anitha, contract teachers, were severely injured in a road accident which left them physically impaired and largely confined to home. “ We do not have any other alternatives for survival. We hope that our problem is solved,” he added. He met minister Seethakka, aka Danasari Anasuya.

Most of them got a few moments with Revanth Reddy where they explained their plight and handed over petitions, some others met Seethakka.

Having been denied an outlet for long, they were satisfied that they could put forward their grievances and were hopeful of getting a solution.

All the people were given packaged drinking water. They were also allowed to move around the campus but many of them intent on submitting their petitions did not venture out.
