Hyderabad: Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Thursday dismissed three writ petitions of aspiring doctors seeking direction to the authorities to permit them to take the final year MBBS examination. P. Venkata Subba Rao and three others from Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences complained that although they had met the attendance requirement, they were not permitted to appear for the exams.
Around 60 students are not only falling short of the 75 per cent attendance but also the 10% margin given by the university. The college and Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences pointed out that the Kamineni institute had both manual and biometric processes in place and the students did not satisfy the prescribed attendance requirement. Justice K. Lakshman dismissed the batch of writ petitions.
Dalit bandhu parameters: HC sets aside order of revenue wing
Justice P Madhavi Devi of the Telangana High Court set aside an order of revenue authorities refusing to consider certain persons as dalit bandhu scheme beneficiaries. The judge set aside two proceedings of March and April, 2022, issued by the revenue authorities as illegal. She directed the authorities to refer the matter to the relevant committee, which would consider the applications in accordance with the guidelines laid down. The court was considering a writ plea filed by Jannu Nutan Babu, who complained that there was a bias towards political supporters.
Murder accused gets three-hour bail for daughter’s marriage
Justice G. Priyadarshini of the Telangana High court on Thursday granted conditional bail to an accused lodged in Khammam district jail for over 180 days. The judge was dealing with a bail application filed by G. Ravinder, accused in the murder case of an advocate, Malla Reddy. He sought a month’s bail to perform the wedding of his daughter. The judge granted a three-hour bail on the date of the wedding.
