Udayagiri MLA Mekapati suffers heart attack, stable
TIRUPATI: Senior YSR Congress leader and Udayagiri MLA Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy suffered a heart attack late on Tuesday night.
Family members took him immediately to a hospital in Nellore city, where doctors performed an angiogram after confirming that two valves in his heart had got occluded.
Subsequently, family members took the MLA to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai for a double check. He has been admitted to the hospital and is under observation.
Mekapati has released a video message saying he had experienced chest pain and has been admitted to Apollo Hospital. "Dr. Bhaktavatsala Reddy is treating me. My health is stable and I'm feeling a lot better. They will just do a few tests on me before discharging me. I'll be well and back home in two days," the MLA stated.
Mekapati had suffered a heart attack earlier too and had been hospitalised in Bengaluru for three days. He got elected as an MLA from Udayagiri while with Congress party in 2004 and 2009. He later switched loyalties to YSR Congress and won from Udayagiri in 2019.
