WARANGAL: Following the initiative taken by former minister and Congress MLA from Manthani, D. Sridhar Babu, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SSCL) has sanctioned from its Corporate Social Responsibility funds ₹11.25 lakh for desilting the L6 Canal from Rajapur to Manthani in Peddapalli district.
Accumulation of silt and sediments in the canal had affected free flow of water in the canal. As a result, farmers depending on the canal for irrigating their fields started facing hardships. They brought the issue to notice of their MLA, who took up the matter with the management of SCCL.
Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu pointed out that silt and sediments will be removed from L6 canal covering Kannala, Nagaram, Gunjapadugu, Potharam and Vilochavaram villages.
Likewise, some farmers of Manthani municipality brought to attention of the MLA growth of weeds on the bund surrounding the Ayyagari Cheruvu. Using his own funds, Sridhar Babu deployed two JCB machines for cleaning up the bunds as well as surroundings of the lake to give it a better look.
