Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao extended greetings to Adivasis and tribals of the state on the occasion of World Adivasi Day on August 9.
In a media statement on Monday, the CM said that Adivasis were the symbol of love and affection and untainted human relations and the state government was implementing several programmes their welfare and development.
The state government fulfilled the aspirations of Adivasis of self-rule in the thandas (tribal habitations). he said. The CM said that the government was implementing the sub-plan meant for the tribals effectively. It was also offering high quality education through Gurukulams, foreign education through Ambedkar Overseas Education Fund and free training to adivasi youth to settle in jobs and self-employment.
However, in the Presidential elections, the TRS opposed the candidature of NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu, India's first tribal to become the first citizen.
Rao said that that the government was improving the road network and power supply and other infrastructure facilities in the tribal habitations. He said that the prestigious Ramji Gondu memorial museum will be established soon.
Kumram Bheem memorial and other museums were open. He said that the Adivasi and Tribal Atmagourava (self respect) buildings are being constructed in the expensive areas of Hyderabad. The government accorded top priority to the Adivasi culture, customs and traditions and festivals. He said that the government is helping to promote the business of the forest produced goods under 'Giri Brand' and also offer livelihoods through the Girijana Cooperative Society.
