Hyderabad: The government on Tuesday increased the commission paid to ration dealers from Rs 900 to Rs 1,400. The measure will benefit 17,227 dealers and will cost the exchequer Rs 139 crore according to a statement. The figure stood at Rs 200 in 2014.
The decision was taken at a meeting of ministers T. Harish Rao and Gangula Kamalakar, deputy Speaker Padma Rao Goud, MLA Padma Devender Reddy and civil supplies commissioner V. Anil Kumar with ration dealers. The government also approved appointment of the kin of 100 ration dealers who lost their life during the Coronavirus pandemic. It was also decided to increase the age limit for appointment of the dealers from 40 to 50.
The other demands that the government agreed to at a meeting on Tuesday were extending Rythu Bima-like insurance of Rs 5 lakh and Aarogyasri cover, building of weigh bridges, extension of dealership renewal to five years, grant of immediate help of Rs 10,000 for funeral rites, exemption from cases for variation of stock limit up to 1.5 quintals and allotment of land for building a ration bhavan.
