James panel pulls up SUT medical college for inactive website
Thiruvananthapuram: The admission supervisory committee (ASC) has sought an explanation from the SUT medical college here for not opening up its website though the commission had extended the last date for admissions to management quota seats from September 6 to 9. The ASC headed by Justice J.M. James found that the website was closed after September 6. Besides, the committee also got several complaints from students and parents about the non-availability of the website.
The committee directed the college management to immediately activate the website providing for online submission of applications for MBBS 2016, failing which all admissions otherwise made will be cancelled. The principal of the college was also asked to give an immediate reply to this direction. The decision to extend the time limit was taken by the ASC following complaints that the self-financing medical colleges had not given adequate time to the candidates to submit applications. The link for registering option on the website of some colleges was found to be not active. In some other cases when the link was opened the result page was blank.
