A section of members of the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalists Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society (JNJMACHS) on Tuesday held 'maha dharna' at Dharna Chowk in city demanding the state government to hand over 38 acres in Petbasheerabad to the society as per the directions of the Supreme Court. Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Adivasi Joint Action Committee district convener Rama Rao Dora on Friday called for protests at the Paderu ITDA on September 13 demanding cancellation of fraudulent ST certificates.
The dharna at Paderu will coincide with the International Day of Indigenous Rights.
In a statement here, Rama Rao Dora demanded that the special drive against fake ST certificates must be intensified. He regretted that by entertaining fraudulent certificates, the district machinery is undermining the constitutional rights provided to Adivasis.
The JAC convener alleged that fake ST certificates are being issued in the name of "Jagananna Suraksha", which is harming the interests of the tribal communities.
