PRLIS boon for Palamuru: KTR
Hyderabad: MA&UD minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Saturday that the state government made efforts to divert water from Godavari and Krishna rivers, through the Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation projects, respectively, for farmers’ benefit.
Rama Rao was speaking while reviewing arrangements to inaugurate the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme (PRLIS) on September 15 with ministers V. Srinivas Goud, Satyavathi Rathod, Sabitha Indra Reddy and Niranjan Reddy at the Secretariat.
“The Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme will make Palamuru district and other districts more pro-agriculture, by providing plenty of irrigation water for cultivation. A few years ago, people from Palamuru used to migrate to other places to earn money due to lack of non-agriculture activities,” the minister said.
“The Telangana government has built great projects like the Kaleshwaram over the Godavari and the Palamuru-Rangareddy over the Krishna. If the Sitarama project is also completed, projects in the Telangana irrigation sector will be completed at saturation level. Farmers can be proud not only as a child of Telangana but also as a citizen of India after seeing the projects built under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao,” Rama Rao said.
Calling the PRLIS a long-pending demand of the Telangana people since 2001, he credited Chandrashekar Rao for shaping the projects from the time of his struggle for statehood.
“This is a great project to solve the hardships faced by the people of Palamuru and Rangareddy districts. This project was completed due to the persistence of the Chief Minister, after crossing many hurdles,” the minister said.
He said that the project would also provide drinking water to people and industries.
Rama Rao also called on the public to celebrate the project’s inauguration in a big way to make people aware of “a milestone for Telangana.
