People Alerted over Elephant Movement in Manyam
Visakhapatnam: The district forest officials in Parvathipuram Manyam have issued a warning to the residents regarding the movement of a single male elephant named Hari, who is heading towards Sivvam village in Garugubilli mandal. The forest authorities have explained that predicting the elephant's exact path is challenging, as it is currently located atop Sivvam hills.
Residents in the areas of Ravupalli, Chimalavanavalasa, Polinaidu Valasa, Pedduru, Garugubilli, Koturu, Rajula Gumada, Kodhula Gumada, and Kothapalle were urged to stay vigilant and promptly inform the relevant beat officers if they encounter the elephant in their vicinity.
Meanwhile, a herd of seven elephants is situated in Itika, and the neighbouring villages, including Itika Valasa, Neesukovalasa, Kundhara Tiruvada, Turakanaidu Valasa, Kodhama, Chinnakodhama, Gauripur, Lakhanpur, Khadgavalasa, Thotapalli, and Gijaba, have also been cautioned to be alert. Residents were advised to be alert when venturing to their farms in the early morning and returning in the late evenings.
District forest officer G.A. Prasuna emphasised that it would be challenging for beat officers and trackers to monitor the elephants if people gather and agitate the animals, particularly while under the influence of alcohol.
