Independence: Role of Muslims to be stressed

Azad took part in the freedom struggle and inspired many Muslims too to join the freedom movement. Azad worked as 1st Education Mantri.

GUNTUR: The Amaravati Institute of Social Sciences will organise Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s 129th birth anniversary celebrations in Guntur on Nov. 10. MLC Dokka Manikyavaraprasada Rao, with former MLC K.S. Lakshmana Rao and AP State Minorities Finance Corporation chairman Md Hidayath, released a poster and an invitation card of the event in Guntur on Wednesday.

They said that famous historian Syed Naseer Ahmed, AP legislative council chairman NMD Farook and others will deliver lecture on “Role of Muslims in the Indian freedom struggle” during Azad’s birth anniversary meeting. Mr Lakshmana Rao said that Azad actively participated in the Indian freedom struggle and inspired a lot of Muslims to join the freedom movement. He said that Azad worked as the first education minister of India after Independence and drafted the best education policy in the world for our country, which is providing employment globally.

He said that many Muslims sacrificed their life during freedom struggle and that many of them had been forgotten now. “During Azad’s birth anniversary meet, all the Muslim freedom fighters would be remembered.” Mr Hidyath said that retired Prof. A. Subramanyam, Mr NMD Farook, MLC Manikyavaraprasada Rao, Guntur West MLA M. Venugopala Reddy, Prof. V. Anji Reddy from Acharya Nagarjuna University, former minister Mohammed Jani, former MLA SM Ziauddin and others will address the meeting.
