Power restored in majority of cyclone-affected areas in AP, say officials

Vijayawada: The AP power utilities have successfully restored power in most of the cyclone- affected areas across the state without any additional interruption to power supply.

Secretary to energy department, K Vijayanand, said the electricity department stated this during a meeting he held with power utilities on power restoration works here.

He said that APTRANSCO has restored power for 14 out of 17 affected feeders and the remaining 3 feeders --Sullurupeta-2, Manubolu and Sullurupeta-3 -- remained affected due to waterlogging. It might take around 10 days for restoration of power to these.

Alternative power supply arrangements were already made for these areas, said APTRANSCO director for grid, AKV Bhaskar.

Appraising the status of restoration works, CMD, APEPDCL, I Prudhvi Tej, said seven numbers of the EHT substations, 157 of 33 KV substations, 139 of 33 KV feeders, 32 of 33 KV poles, 0.95km of 33 KV lines, 830 of 11 KV feeders, 1099 of 11 KV poles, 45.68km of 11 KV lines, 663 of DTRs, 2013 of villages, 85 of Mandals, seven towns, 36860 agricultural services and 1,482,600 non- agricultural services were affected in Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Eluru district circles.

Out of these, power restoration works were fully completed in a majority of the areas.

Appraising the status of restoration works, CMD APCPDCL, Padma Janardhana Reddy said 206 of 33 KV substations,149 of 33 KV feeders, 115 of 33 KV poles, 7.55km of 33KV line, 830 of 11 KV feeders, 1280 of 11 KV poles, 77.87km of 11 KV lines, 510 DTRs, Villages, 101 mandals, 20 towns, 13,997 agricultural services and 4,57,989 non-agricultural services were affected in Bapatla, Prakasam, Guntur Krishna, NTR and Palnadu districts.

Out of these, power restoration works were fully completed in a majority of the areas.

Appraising the status of restoration works, CMD APSPDCL, Santosh Rao, said three EHT substations, 322 33KV substations, 186 33KV feeders, 886 33KV poles, 86.76km of 33KV lines, 1,262 of 11KV feeders, 3751 of 11KV poles, 333.0km of 11KV lines, 1781 DTRs, 1808 villages, 49 mandals, 9 towns, 1,83,722 agricultural services and 1,21,8362 non- agricultural services were affected in Nellore, Tirupati, Kadapa, Anantapur and Kurnool districts.

A majority of these services were restored. A few interior locations still had waterlogging. The works would be taken up to restore power as soon as the water recedes, he said.
