Vijayawada: YSRC MLA Vasantha Krishnaprasad on Saturday asked union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to provide more support to farmers of Andhra Pradesh, as they have suffered huge losses due to the Michaung cyclone.
The MLA from Mylavaram met Nirmala Sitharaman while she was participating in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Rayanapadu in Vijayawada Rural mandal of NTR district.
Krishnaprasad said the union minister had responded positively to the request. This would help the state government support farmers, who are suffering due to the natural calamity.
In this regard, he pointed out that the central and state governments are jointly implementing many welfare schemes to eradicate poverty. He said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is giving high priority to poverty alleviation.
